About Our Founder

Mrs. Rosemary Ngong Kiffa, a very active and hardworking former President of AfoAkom spearheaded the creation of the Komnamites group in 2017 with the grand launching at the Kom convention in Maryland. AS President Mrs. Rosemary Kiffa and her then EXCO made it their preoccupation to bring young adults from Kom together so that they could promote the Kom culture among them and also build the Kom community in many aspects. In late 2016, she began brainstorming on what percentage of Kom young adults really attended chapter meetings, became members or how many attended the AfoAkom USA annual Convention.

Her discovery was that there were so many Kom young adults all over the USA who did not belong to chapters let alone attend the annual convention. Together with her passion for unity and growth she began sorting some young Kom adults one after the other. Her vision was to bring together unique qualities, great minds and dynamism. She therefore put a team together which today formed the pioneer EXCO lead by Mr. Genesis Bangha whom she appointed as President. This group was named KOMNMAITES by the pioneer EXCO. The group functions under the umbrella of Afoakom USA. Together with the new EXCO, they spent a greater part of her Presidency in 2017 identifying leadership qualities amongst young adults and brought them onboard. Under the auspices of Afo-Akom – USA, this young adult group underwent growing pains, but through it all, the unity and love for Kom and each other, sustained the group. In their first year of existence, they were able to complete the rehabilitation and supplies to GHS Abuh science lab.

The Komnamites started with approximately 20 members, today this group can boast of approximately well over 160 members. Every month we see the group growing leaps and bounds. The former president saw the need to have two great patrons and reached out to Dr. Promise Yong and Dr. Victor Waingeh who have guided the group in innovative, developmental, mentoring and cultural domains.

Accomplishments:

  • The Successful completion of Science Laboratory in GHS Abuh
  • The Successful organization of Komnamites end of Year Party in December 2017
  • Successful support to Komnamites members in difficult times and Grieving times.
  • The Successful workshop on development in 2017

Our History

AfoAkom – USA has a long tradition of encouraging chapter building and also improving relationships. The understanding has been that the young adults will become the leaders of this great cultural organization as time goes by.

The story of Komnamites cannot be complete without the mention of Mrs. Rosemary Ngong Kiffa. She is the brain behind this group, a very active and hardworking former President of AfoAkom. She started thinking out of the box on how she could get young people together to be involved in the Kom culture, the activities of AfoAkom, and the community at large.
