Vocational Assistance Project

With a desire to actively contribute to the development of Kom, we the youths of Kom in the diaspora decided to add our own block to this edifice by launching the Vocational Assistance Project. This project aims at assisting Kom youths back home to get training in various skills which would help them sustain themselves and their families, thereby empowering more Kom youths and the Kom community at large towards development.

Our plan of work will entail getting in touch with people from Kom who either own training centers or carry on vocational activities, and are willing to train these youths. A partnership agreement will be reached and signed with them, specifying the terms of the contract. With a schedule for the training to officially start beginning January 2021, we will mobilize the necessary resources towards the achievement of this project from both Komnamites and non-Komnamites.

Constant reports will be made by participants and persons who will be in charge of following up the project on behalf of the Komnamites in the diaspora. Based on these reports, evaluations will be conducted quarterly to determine the successes and failures. These measures would be used to make necessary changes as identified.

This is a vision we’re carrying, which has the potential of leading us very far, especially in our ardent desire to make Kom a better place. We trust our efforts will bear the fruits we are all expecting to have and encourage every member’s active participation and involvement. With the crisis actually going on back home and where Kom our homeland is greatly affected, this is the right time to launch this initiative and rebuild hope in those who’ve been shattered and who’ve lost so much.

Goals/Objectives of the Project

One of our missions being to impact the Kom community, we came to think about solutions which could help the youths back at home to face these everyday challenges.

Our solution takes the form of vocational trainings. Vocational training refers to instructional programs or courses that focus on the skills required for a particular job function or trade. In vocational training, the education prepares students for specific careers, disregarding traditional unrelated academic subjects. Vocational education is one that prepares people to work as technicians or in various jobs such as tradesmen, artisans, hairdressers, tailors/seamstresses and so on. Having the youths trained in these various sectors, we envisage that at the end of the training, the youths should be capable of sustaining themselves through businesses of their own or getting employed somewhere. This will in turn help them to sustain themselves and their families. Imagine that this program is implemented for hundreds of Kom youths back home, the overall impact will be widely positive as we will have impacted and empowered many, thereby helping to reduce poverty and making Kom more prosperous.

We intend to fund these trainings for selected youths who will fit the criteria which we will have pre-established.
